It is the goal of any qualified massage therapist to make you feel comfortable and at ease. The room in which your massage takes place is optimized to this end, and you will enjoy soft background music to help you relax on the specialized and comfortable table you’ll be lying on.
Therapeutic massage is typically performed with the client unclothed; however, we encourage you to wear whatever you are comfortable in. You will be appropriately draped at all times. Most people undress completely, while some leave some clothing on such as underwear. You decide what level of comfort is right for you. Your privacy is respected at all times.
Your massage therapist will discuss this with you to come up with a beneficial treatment plan. Generally, full body massages will include work conducted from your feet all the way up to your shoulders, neck and head. You will never be touched in any inappropriate areas of your body.
In most cases, yes. This is to reduce any skin irritation or friction which can cause discomfort. Lubricants of this nature will also provide other benefits, such as moisturizing your skin—if you have an allergy to products like this, please notify your massage therapist.
Massage therapy is different than the “back rubs” you may have exchanged with other people in your life. These kinds of appointments will generally begin gently to allow your muscles time to adjust, and then will become progressively more forceful—but never “intense” or too far beyond your comfort level. More or less pressure can always be requested at your discretion.
In some cases, yes. Some patients may experience soreness or tenderness after a massage, and this can vary upon the nature of the treatment administered. This is normal to some degree, but you should always feel welcomed and encouraged to speak with your therapist if you feel that your treatments leave you feeling overly sore. You may benefit from drinking more water than usual on the following day or until the soreness subsides.
We do not do incisional drainage. Incisional drainage is a modality commonly done the first week after cosmetic surgery, and is common in Florida and California. This drainage forces fluid out of incisions made by surgery. Manual Lymphatic Drainage promotes the return of fluid from tissues and lymphatic vessels back into the circulatory system where it can be safely eliminated by our bodies natural processes. For post-op clients: we cannot treat you until all drains have been removed.
We offer several different modalities of massage so you’re sure to find the massage that fits you best! We also offer massage packages so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of massage. View our pricing Here.
Our HydroSpa is located at 330 Naubuc Avenue in Glastonbury.
Appropriate swimwear is required to participate in the hydrospa circuit. Immerse will provide you with spa sandals and two towels. The spa sandals must be worn for the entirety of your stay. You are welcome to additional towels or a robe for a fee.
Yes - the hydrospa is a shared, co-ed experience. There are separate men/women's locker rooms for you to change into & out of your swimsuit, as well as shower before and after your experience. The changing area contains lockers for you to store your valuables for the duration of your stay.
For the comfort and safety of all of our guests, cell phones and cameras are not allowed in the hydrospa.
You are welcome to book a 30, 60, 90, or 120-minute stay, which allows you to enjoy the hydrospa at your leisure. There is a recommended circuit posted; however, you are welcome to go in whichever order you desire - just remember "hot, cold, repeat".
Due to the State of CT Health Department, everyone is required to shower with soap and water BEFORE entering the hydrospa. Be sure to rinse off any lotions or oils on your body. You will also be required to rinse off between experiences. You are not required to shower upon completion of the hydrospa - although it is recommended. If you receive a massage as part of your services at Immerse, please use the hydrospa first.
We offer hydrospa packages so that everyone can enjoy the benefits - view our pricing here. Packages cannot be shared.
The following conditions are contraindications to the hydrospa:
Alcohol and saunas/cold plunges don’t go together and you should never bring glasses or bottles into the spa. Leave the celebrations for later once you’ve rehydrated and your body temperature returns to normal. We have a hydration station and will provide you with cups to use during your stay.
Minors (all clients under the age of 18 - unless otherwise emancipated) are not permitted in the hydrotherapy circuit without a parental/legal guardian present for the entirety of their stay.
A parent or legal guardian of the minor receiving treatment(s) at our facility will complete the Intake Form on behalf of the minor and inform the staff of all medical diagnoses, symptoms, medications, and complaints associated with the minor and the services provided. You further agree that the minor will remain under your direction and supervision while the minor is participating in the hydrotherapy circuit.
